WorldPartner spearheads the creation of the PSTQB

WorldPartner, Inc. has taken the lead in instituting a national qualification board for software testers in the Philippines.WorldPartner specializes in IT consulting services as well as recruitment of dedicated development teams to complement IT development departments of foreign clients. This necessitates a strong QA and test capacity for its projects. According to Henrik Levring, CEO of WorldPartner, Inc., the PSQTB initiative is motivated by two major factors: first, the company’s need for certified software testers, and second, the felt obligation to give back to its home country.
Filling up the void for Software Testers
Although the Philippines produces IT graduates every year, the company’s requisite need for qualified and preferably certified software testers has not been met. Mr. Levring said, “The dearth in the number of software testers in the country may be due to the lack of an international certification board which would put software testers on the same plane as software developers. There is a strong perception in this country that software developers enjoy a higher status; therefore, those who could go into software testing would rather take up software development instead of responding to the demand for software testers.”
Philantrophic obligation to “give back”
Since WorldPartner has been in the Philippines for 3 years now, its management decided that it is high time to “give back” to its home country. Levring said, “The best way for us to be a benevolent employer and contributor to the Philippines is to facilitate additional career paths for Filipino IT graduates – giving them higher employment status and securing job placements for this very important facet of the IT industry, i.e. software testing.”
World Partner is now in the process of engaging co-founding companies and organizations for its PSQTB application to the International Software Testing Qualifications Board. Approval of said application is expected in mid 2009.
